Ready, Set, Draw! @ Hang Gallery

Hangsketch1
It's 2:00 am, and before I shove off to bed, I wanted to drop you guys a photo from last weekend. However, more soon to come! As soon as I get all of the pics together, I'll be putting a nice slideshow together (yay!) that will probably end up being the next Video Blog.

In terms of how the event itself went.. the Hang Sketch Rally was intense, and it was an honor to be a special guest artist at the gallery. At the end of the day, Hang even chose to keep the unsold drawings for further promotion and potential sales (they're also keeping the prices at $50). So, the sketches I did that didn't immediately find a home, are now, actually, hanging at Hang Gallery! Sweet!

Again, more pics soon to come!

"Coming Attractions" Reception Pics!

Blog_bucheon4

If you watched the video blog, you've probably seen most of these already. But I know not everyone can handle eight minutes of sexy art tourism, so, just in case, here's some snapshots from the show reception at Bucheon Contemporary.

AAU Faculty Alumni Auction

On_blog I haven't been on top of things as far as updates go. The Academy of Art University Faculty / Alumni Auction has already passed, and I failed to keep track of my announcements.

However, the good news is that I sold some work (including this piece), and, because I was volunteering, I also got to wrap up my work for the collector. Exciting!

Aside from that, this week is about getting back on track. I started a new long drawing, and I almost have Sociology #2 ready to print. I'll be posting in progress pics of each, as soon as I can.

In the meantime, I uploaded a new sketch for 11/12/08.

Open Studio Snapshots!

Openstudio_1 Like every annual holiday, the Open Studio has come and gone (thanks everyone for stopping by!). The studio space has never looked better, and we're happy. In three weeks we made cards, moved furniture, cleaned, hung artwork, labeled and priced, even busted out the red dots for sold pieces!

There was also plenty of small affordable works in portfolios, a few issues of Sociology #1, and a sneak peek at the original artwork for the upcoming Sociology #2!

My only regret is that most of our visitors came on full stomachs, and we still have tons of food left! Even as we speak, Albert is chomping away at cheese slices, and I'm convinced my metabolism can handle the mass quantities of sugar now occupying our kitchen table. One more shortbread cookie never hurt anyone!

Thanks again for dropping by!

"Follow Through" Blackbirds Sold Out!

79_soldout2_3I'm happy to announce that all eight of the Blackbirds at 79 New Montgomery sold out. There have also been inquiries about commissions, and whether or not I have any other Blackbirds in my possession. I have two. Blackbirds #9 and #10 are still available for purchase, and are in the process of being framed.

Please direct any inquiries to Danielle Beach at 79 New Montgomery.

Group Show Reception at 79 New Montgomery

79_show2_2One more reception down! Now it's time to relax and upload all the pictures. "Follow Through" had a solid First Thursday turnout. Within the first hour we ran out of food, sketch postcards, and two of my Blackbirds had sold.

79_show1I'd also like to thank everyone at 79, and fellow artist Geoff Meyer, for their collaborative efforts to pull this show together. It was really difficult at first (as a couple of the artists dropped out), but in the end it came through. "Follow Through" was really about following through; thanks for making it happen!

If you missed out on the reception, you can still check out "Follow Through" at 79 New Montgomery, San Francisco throughout the month of April.

Solo Show Reception at Mars Bar SF

Marsrecp1_2The "Missing Time" reception at Mars Bar has come and gone, but for the people who missed out, there are photos! A few, anyway.
I'd also like to thank everyone who stopped by to check out the show, and thank Mars for setting aside several bottles of wine for us (I think we got through most of them).

Marsrecp6On a more personal note, it's exhilarating showing a body of work in one space, and I'm truly grateful. Until now it's been one piece here or there in group shows, but never everything together. If you've missed seeing it, "Missing Time" will be up for the next month and a half. Check it out, say hi, and drop me a line via the guestbook.

Pics from "Delicious"

Studiogal_3The reception at Studio went off without a hitch, and I'd like to personally thank everyone for coming. I'd also like to thank Jennifer and Rab Terry for allowing me to shoot some photos for the blog.

I am also thrilled and pleased to announce that the paintings I had in the show sold out quickly, even before the reception. Unfortunately, if you stopped by specifically to see them, they had already left with their collector (I admit, it was a little strange being at my own reception without my work!).

I have to thank my buddy and fellow Studio artist, Chur Park, for snapping this photo of me with Jen and Rab. There have been shows past where I did a horrible job getting pictures, but I'm trying to be more diligent about it now. I also snapped a standard crowd scene.

Jamestroy_3And, just for kicks, I'm going to throw in this one of artists James Lee and Troy Nowak, who were also showing tonight in "Delicious". Somehow this pic reminds me of Sailor Moon.. maybe it's the hand gestures?
