Sharpie Fun w/ David Ball

Davidscalp

Davidscalp2 Apparently, artist / curator David Ball has become a walking-talking canvas. Sometime over the past few months, David lost a small tuft of hair, and ever since then he's been inviting artists to draw on the spot with a sharpie.

The designs have included everything from lightbulbs, to flowers, to the Babylon Falling logo, and also.. *dun dun dun* a Megan Wolfe pigeon! Roosting happily in a nest of hair. My finest work yet.
Other artists previously shown on David's scalp are Christopher Burch, David Young V, and students from AAU's illustration department.
(I also want to throw a shout-out to Shaun Roberts for photographing this special moment - my one-day-only solo show on a dude's scalp)

Coffee, Nerves, and a Tease. I Get Interviewed!

Mwolfe_bbird

Last week I sat down with Dormain of Arteaser for a cup of coffee, and a magical story about turtles in swimming pools, birds that act like birds, and an art bum from Mississippi. Needless to say, the caffeine didn't help my nerves (which was my doing, as Domain settled for decaf), but if you're curious, my biography (thus far) has been written and blogged. Now all of your burning questions shall be answered! (well, some at least - "why pigeons" is the one I get most often)

You can read the full story here, on Arteaser.com.

Blackbird Sketchbook Cover

Sketchbookstudio
Trying to get this entry in, but honestly, I'm super distracted by election coverage. I trust you are too, so you won't notice my second rate entry (until tomorrow).

Newsketchbook Anywho, after two years of love, my sketchbook-binder fell apart, and I needed to get a new one. I finally picked one up yesterday; my reward for 4.5 hours of waiting to vote (after four hours, stickers just don't do it for me).

I never actually made a cover for the old one, but I wanted to definitely do something for the new one. So I brewed up some tea, and made a mess. This guy was the result. He's sumi ink on watercolor paper.

Macy's Passport Gala, and Sociology Sketches

Macys_mural

This week I helped out my buddy Mark Elliot with his mural for the Macy's Passport Gala. Unfortunately, I could only chip in with the preliminary work, as my workshop at AAU conflicted with the time frame of the actual event. All the same, it was a fun experience, and I can't wait to see pics of the finished piece.

Sociologybirds

Also, if you requested a copy of "Sociology", I included quickie sketches on each of the notes I slipped in with the zines. It's nothing big, and they're similar to the sketches I do for my postcards, but I hope you guys get a kick out of them anyhow.

I Be A Teachin'

N532832981_732569_5279

Summer semester has come to a close at the Academy of Art, and I'm sad to see it go. I had some super-cool students that were a lot of fun, and the feedback I got at the final exhibition was better than chocolate. Needless to say, I'm pretty stoked for the Fall.

Stepsrail Aside from teaching at the Academy, I will also be doing a 5-week workshop with Sharon Art Studio in San Francisco. "Creative Composition in Graphite" is intended to delve into my process, employing some photographic elements and creativity exercises. All the more reason to be stoked.

Check out Sharon Art Studio.
